Students receive over $30,000 in Scholarships
The Bedford Community Health Foundation is awarding over $30,000 to students pursuing careers in the health field. Areas of study include dental hygiene, nursing, physical therapy, geriatrics and occupational therapy. The scholarship awards include money from several funds including the Eileen Miller/Emma Allie, Connie Bohon Parker, Maxwell Dudley Davidson, Janet Boyer Wood, and Sandra and David Boyes Fund. The Foundation awards scholarships annually to residents of the Town or County of Bedford who are pursuing careers in healthcare.
Leave a Legacy
Funds created in honor of or in memory of loved ones can have a lasting impact on our community. This year, an award from the Ruby Shields Fund enabled the Foundation to provide First Aid Training for the volunteer drivers of Bedford Ride. Ruby Shields, was a caring resident and a successful realtor who was a dedicated volunteer driver for Bedford Ride. Her spirit lives on and her fund keeps giving back to the community that she loved.
For over twenty five years the Bedford Community Health Foundation has worked to improve the health of our community. Mammography screening for the poor, school nurses in every public school, therapy for the mentally and physically challenged, care for our elderly, emergency medical services, equipment for our local hospital – these are just a few of the challenges the Foundation has addressed. Careful and responsible financial management and planning allow for funding that affects every resident of Bedford and ensures a sound future for health-care in Bedford.
Our Foundation Offers You an Opportunity to Impact the Health of Our Community
We meet those needs through the support of our members and community residents like you. We are your health-care advocate and our vision is to make Bedford the healthiest community in Virginia.
